Expression

Expression in Sky: Children of the Light

Expressions are collectible gestures, animations, and actions that let Sky children communicate and play. Spirits teach expressions, and many can be upgraded to add new movements or visual effects. Expressions wiki

How many Expressions are there in Sky in 2026?

There isn’t one simple total: the wiki groups several different kinds of collectibles under Expressions, and the number changes as the game adds content. Its page lists dozens of emotes, plus 13 named stances, 17 calls, and 16 Friend Actions. Those are counts of the entries in those wiki lists, not a guaranteed total of every expression available in the game in 2026. Some entries are base actions or calls associated with special items, and the list may change. Check the linked catalogue for the latest names and availability. Expressions catalogue

Expressions, Stances, and Spells: what’s the difference?

  • Expressions are the broad collection of ways to communicate or perform actions. Emotes are one type of Expression.
  • Stances change your Sky child’s posture—how they stand, kneel, sit, or lie down. A stance affects the pose used with sitting actions.
  • Spells are consumable items, not Expressions. They’re used from your inventory and can have temporary effects. They don’t teach a gesture or change your character’s base posture.

How to unlock and upgrade Expressions

Find a Spirit and relive its memory to learn the Expression it offers. If upgrades are available, unlock them through that Spirit’s Friendship Tree. The number of levels and requirements vary; check the tree in-game for current costs and availability.

To use an upgraded emote, open the Expression menu, press and hold its icon, then release when the level you want is selected. Not every Expression has upgrades.

Browse the catalogue

Use the Sky Expressions catalogue to look up individual entries and their listed type, levels, season, and location. The wiki separates its catalogue into Emotes, Stances, Calls, and Friend Actions. Friend Actions are interactions with another player and are accessed through the Friendship Menu rather than the Expression Menu.
